Ocean ripple FO

I finished ripple #3 early yesterday morning. I can't wait to give it to her. I talked to her on Monday and it was confirmed that she is having a little boy(which is what the early pink or blue test said). So this is Dylan Scott's first blanket. They are doing an ocean/fish theme, so I have been calling it the ocean blanket. It kinda looks like ocean waves:) It is made with Caron SS, a size G hook, is about 34 by 36 and it took me about a month to crochet. I took me over an hour just to FINISH tucking the ends in:) My mini Dachshund Emory is modeling it again.... She is so funny, I think she enjoys the photo shoots:)

Cross posted at my blog.
Thanks for the motivation to finish and post this thing everyone:) Everyone's ripples are looking fabulous!

Another Thrift store blanket...

This is the last one for a while. Well I do have one more finished blanket to show but it needs to stop raining so that I can take pictures of it ( Texas has had rain 18 of the last 30days and it hasn't just been sprinkles...Our backyard is a lake but I shouldn't complain. It has flooded so bad North of here lots of people are homeless and so many people have died or been injured in flooding water.... Makes me bitching about unhappy wienies seem so silly)

I stayed up till 4am ish to finish Dylans' (he has a name now:) blanket. It took almost an hour just to finish tucking the ends in. I love it, I hope she loves it just as much. I think she will, they are doing an ocean/fish theme and the colors remind me of the beach:)

Sorry the pictures are so uneven looking, it was actually dry and sunny for a second(the dry part is huge, the weather has been so funny that one minute it is pouring and the next it is sunny and muggy...ugh) Oh the sun is out, maybe I'll get lucky and be able to squeeze in a few pics.
Oh and other good news, my cousin Rachel has been living in London since December is coming for a month. YEAH! I'm picking her up on Monday at the airport. Rach and I were born 24 hours apart at the same hospital. Our Moms are sister, so we grew up super close. So I am very excited to see her. That and Mike hopefully will get next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off for 4th of July. I love it when he is home!

Thrift Store

I found this twin sheet during my thrift shopping this past Saturday. They had the bottom sheet too but as I don't have a twin bed in my house I just bought the flat sheet. I'm still feeling a bit guilty for splitting them up..lol..I think that if they would have had the pillow cases I wouldn't have been so quick to just grab the flat sheet. I so wish it would have been a bigger set...Oh well, now I just need to figure out what to do with the material...

Sorry for the lack of knitting/crochet progress. I've only got four more rows and then finish tucking in the ends on the ripple baby blanket then I'm done. I'll post pics then:)

Ankle socks FO

These were knitted so quick that I didn't even post about them. The yarn was from my monkey socks yarn(400 something yards goes a long way), size 2 needles, 52co, 4 row picot edge anklet. They were a birthday present to my sister Deborah who just turned 9. She was really excited to have matching socks. She immediately put them on with her crocs and when we left she was still wearing them.. They were fun to knit once I went and bought a second set of 2s. Why they sell them is sets of 4? I need 5!

I was bad...

The lady at the thrift shop actually asked me why I needed so many blankets...He he... I found a gorgeous vintage twin flat sheet for material, a 70ish blanket for the guestroom and this

I was so excited to find a giant granny in such great shape(it did smell like moth balls...it's acrylic though..lol..I had to wash it twice), it's not the softest but oh well. I only paid 8.95 for it! I figure if I can't recruit anyone into making me something(isn't that why you teach people to knit or crochet? haha...jk) this is the closest I'll get to having something handmade that I didn't make myself:)
Cross posted at the Granny-Along....
More pics tomorrow of my other finds...

Craigslist

One of my huge addictions is Craigslist. I've found jobs, dogs( my babies Ralph and Issy and my Moms new baby Lula Bell ), sold stuff, gave stuff away, and then the most dangerous bought stuff. This is one of my favorite purchases. It is an old chest. It opens but the inside isn't in great shape. It was rust colored when we bought it, but last weekend it quit raining long enough for Mike to prime it and paint it. I bought it so that we could use it for a coffee table but it ended up being too tall, but it works perfect as a bedside table.
The fabric that is over it is an old laundry bag that I bought at an estate sale for .50$. Love it!

I need to get a cute little table top fan( I can't sleep without one going) because the one I have is an blank ugly plastic one. I think it turned out pretty well!

Little bit

This is really kinda pathetic how excited I was over about three yards of drop spindle spun, double plied yarn. I have a whole tp roll of singles but this was the very beginning of the first spindle and it was skinnier and a bit over spun. So to practice I went ahead and plied it. I worked! It's not that pretty but it is yarn... I bought the fiber from Madeline Tosh when she was at the farmers market. Such pretty colors!

Sorry for the fuzzy pictures, I had this crying at the door for me...

Dish

I had the full set of these dishes ages ago. Well probably 8yrs or so. In on one of my many moves I gave them away but always kinda regretted it. They are very much so me. So this year Mike and I took a vacation to Ruidoso the day after X-Mas and right across the street from our cabin was the Thrift Store for the Animal Shelter. I bought lots of towels(we took them right over to the animal shelter...it was cold and they said that they would love them) and this plate. It is technically a serving platter I think. So I use it as my rice plate(I make the best crunchy Texmati rice). Unpacking after the move I realized that the wonderful STR that I won has ALL of the same colors that are in my plate. So this is what is on my little dining room table. Love it! It makes me happy!

Weekend

It took Verizon almost 10 hours total to finally figure out that the people that lived here before us had their service disconnected for non payment then restarted the internet service in the others name(then didn't disconnect that when they moved) so when we called to have it all hooked up they connected it to the non paid for box number. Screwing the system all up. The techs for Verizon were great no complaints there. I'm just so happy to have internet and DVR. Which I haven't had in over 18months. It was so nice to not have to stay up to watch Third Watch(it comes on Friday and Saturday at 3am) So YEAH!

I jumped right on this wagon. I loved knitting them and finished them really quick considering that we packed, moved, unpacked and had to do major cleaning inside and outside at the new place. This is so not my last pair:)
Drying...

Look what I found at Big Lots for 30$

These are normally 129$ Plus it totally fits our odd sizes sofa(it has a full size pull out bed instead of a queen, but it's not as small as a love seat). I found our slip covered (it's either a Crate and Barrel or a Pottery Barn) sofa at a resale shop for 125$ a year ago(and they threw in 4 metal chairs for free...I loved that place). While the cover that it came with is in great shape its cream and a pain in the ass to wash. With six dogs I need something that I can throw in the wash when ever I want to. Up until now I hadn't found a slip cover that I love and that fits. This one does. So I was so excited!

So this weekend I made homemade laundry soap (which is wonderful! It cleaned dog blankets and they smell clean!), let the babies go swimming in the little pool we bought them(and then bathed them all when they got muddy running through the backyard), weeded the front bed again, went swimming at a friends(I got the cutest swimsuit at Target...which never happens for me...made my weekend), and did all of our laundry(I LOVE LOVE LOVE having our own W/D)
Mike mowed front and back and painted the old chest that I bought on Craigslist white and then today cleaned out the storage shed behind our house that was FULL of other peoples shit. So we now have a place to put our new mower, weed eater, grill and the baby pool. So I think everything is finally done.

So this week I'm going to work on my ripple, order PUL material for mama pads(I also need to go shopping for flannel), and sew a curtain for our spare room and maybe hem the flannel blankets so that I can crochet the edging when I want.

So here is ripple #3 (I haven't taken pictures of #2 yet...I had to set it aside because I need to gift #3 soon)

And my four oldest babies after their baths...They are in the kitchen with the baby gate up because they are supposed to be having dinner.

Josh from Verizon

We have internet and cable! The poor cable guy was here about 5 hours for what should have taken maybe an hour. The person that set the boxes up screwed up big time. Not poor Josh(that by the way it was his wifes' birthday and he didn't even make it home till after 10pm) it wasn't his fault at all. So thank you Josh for making my day. I LOVE the internet!
So tomorrow I'll post a knitting/crochet post with pictures......
