This is why I am not a seamstress!

Ok this is so embarrassing. I finally got a day off and decided to pull out my sewing machine and start sewing my yellow star baby blanket. I had already cut both layers and the batting, tacked it down with pale yellow cotton embroidery thread so it was ready for the binding.

I even looked up directions online.

So it started out ok!But quickly took a turn for the worse.
My machine kept pulling the satin to the side. So on some sides I ran off and then had to go over them again. Then in some places I had 1/4 seam...sigh
I had small puckers!
I had parts where the machine wouldn't push the material through so it has bunched up stitches! The corners...oh the corners! Not an even one to be seen after the first kinda straight one...

Such a cute blanket but such awful binding...
I think I'm gonna leave it this way. You know the awful part is that I'm having to hold myself back from running to Jo-Anns to get more fabric, batting and binding to see if practice makes perfect...lol...I should really just go work on James' socks and the Bee shawl....Pictures of that maybe tomorrow(:

Mr Jack loves his toy that his Mama crocheted then fulled for him...

Thrift Shopping

*Edited to add that blogger was messed up and wouldn't let me fix this post last night*
Ok so I'm soooooooo behind. So for the one person that actually checks this(Hi Cindy:) to see if I've posted anything new here is a photo post to get me up to date on my thrift shopping.
A wonderful huge afghan that I bought for about 4$

I found this for 2.50$ I love it!

Mike and I ran in a thrift store here in Irving that was about to close. I loved this chair but never thought that Mike would actually like it too. I think I'm rubbing off on him...lol... They were asking 15$(It's a 70's Lazy Boy..They sell for about 100$ on CL) but since we actually came back the next day to get it they lady was so surprised that she sold it to Mike for 10$! It's Emory's favorite chair.

I love owls. I didn't even see this at the thrift store but Rachel spotted it and I couldn't not bring it home. It's huge! Mike hung it above our couch for me.

Goodwilling with my Mom a few months ago I found these. The Goodwills in Sherman/Denison are the best for finding craft items. You have to dig but you can find great vintage patterns.

Vintage towels. I got them for no more than a 2$ a towel. Some were .79$!

I'll try to post more often. I've been working a ton. I do knit/crochet while I'm there. Plus I did get some sewing time in when I finally had a day off. PLEASE remind me next time I decide to use satin binding what a pain in the ass it is! lol

I'm terrible

Every time I log into blogger pretending that I'm going to post a new blog I get sidetracked. I've updated my must read blogs, added pictures, made my links clickable(I think I did that the hardest way possible...sigh), not counting getting side tracked by all the great things everyone is knitting, crocheting and sewing....

I LOVE Ravelry! if I haven't mentioned lately:) I love how that as more people are added the more projects and stash are added. Something new everyday. It is a HUGE time sucker though.

I just spent the last three evenings at babycare/breastfeeding classes. Not for me, but a good friend of mine is due October 31. Dylan's sperm donor is not involved so we tease that I'm going to be his Daddy. Mike and I have spent three full days getting his room ready and setting stuff up. She is soooo stressing out, so whatever we can do to help we are doing it:) Going to all of these classes makes me so anxious to meet him.

I have been knitting, almost finished the second mini monkey and Moms' Birthday/Xmas present. I'll try to take pictures tomorrow, it was raining today:)

This is Emorys' sad face... As I got ready to go out on Saturday she just got sadder and sadder the closer I got to being ready to go. I took this right before I left. Funny little girl:)

Tagged and Mini Monkeys

Wow ravelry is a big time sucker. I now have almost all of my knitting and crochet stuff put in so it shouldn't be too bad from now on. I seriously encourage everyone to get on their waiting list asap. One thing I wish I would have done before hand was take pics of everything I was working on and my stash and move it all to flickr while I was waiting for my invite. Doing that took the longest time. Anyways....

Sweet Cindy tagged me as a rockin' girl blogger:) Thanks you!

So to tag 5 others.....

* Janice (ok not a craft blog but I just think she is amazing...)
* Cindy ( how can I not tag you back...lol)

And now a few Mini Monkey pictures:)

I seriously need Mike to make me some sock blockers:)

Cloth Pad

I finished these about a month ago (I took the pictures when I was about a quarter of the way done). I made set with yellow, pink and red tied-dye with yellow backs but I forgot to take pictures of them. They were much prettier than this set. I found the directions here (without the wings though) and then for quite a few I just made it up using a disposable as a pattern. I bought all of the supplies at Jo-Anns. I used double sided all cotton flannel, changing pad material with a rubber center, new and old washcloths(Wal-Mart) and cotton batting for padding and polyester thread. Was pretty easy and they (well most of them) turned out so pretty. They are really comfy and super easy to wash. I bought more washcloths to make a few more. Now I just need to run back to Jo-Anns to pick up a bit of flannel and changing pad material:)

Ravelry and a Scarf

I've been sucked in! No just kidding. I did get my invite. I love it so far, I need to take pics of the stash and get that all settled. I've been soooooo busy. It's so hard to get back in the swing of things when you've been gone for a few weeks... I guess I will try to motivate myself to post about one project I'm working on or have finished everyday even if it is a short post. I really like keeping track on here.
This is a garter stitch scarf, knitting with 11s I think. I have the ball band around here somewhere I just need to find it. I think it is an alpaca mix. I've got almost one ball into it, two more to go..

Come find me on Ravelry my id is frogginqueen....

Granny Wristlet

My little sisters are spending the night and I was showing them this blog. They saw the little makeup/purse bags made out of one granny square (I'm sorry, I'm not sure who made them...they are very cute!) and decided they wanted me to make one. So this is what we did tonight:) The crochet button does actually look like a button in person.... It isn't lined yet, I need to find something that matches:)

Ocean ripple FO

I finished ripple #3 early yesterday morning. I can't wait to give it to her. I talked to her on Monday and it was confirmed that she is having a little boy(which is what the early pink or blue test said). So this is Dylan Scott's first blanket. They are doing an ocean/fish theme, so I have been calling it the ocean blanket. It kinda looks like ocean waves:) It is made with Caron SS, a size G hook, is about 34 by 36 and it took me about a month to crochet. I took me over an hour just to FINISH tucking the ends in:) My mini Dachshund Emory is modeling it again.... She is so funny, I think she enjoys the photo shoots:)

Cross posted at my blog.
Thanks for the motivation to finish and post this thing everyone:) Everyone's ripples are looking fabulous!

Another Thrift store blanket...

This is the last one for a while. Well I do have one more finished blanket to show but it needs to stop raining so that I can take pictures of it ( Texas has had rain 18 of the last 30days and it hasn't just been sprinkles...Our backyard is a lake but I shouldn't complain. It has flooded so bad North of here lots of people are homeless and so many people have died or been injured in flooding water.... Makes me bitching about unhappy wienies seem so silly)

I stayed up till 4am ish to finish Dylans' (he has a name now:) blanket. It took almost an hour just to finish tucking the ends in. I love it, I hope she loves it just as much. I think she will, they are doing an ocean/fish theme and the colors remind me of the beach:)

Sorry the pictures are so uneven looking, it was actually dry and sunny for a second(the dry part is huge, the weather has been so funny that one minute it is pouring and the next it is sunny and muggy...ugh) Oh the sun is out, maybe I'll get lucky and be able to squeeze in a few pics.
Oh and other good news, my cousin Rachel has been living in London since December is coming for a month. YEAH! I'm picking her up on Monday at the airport. Rach and I were born 24 hours apart at the same hospital. Our Moms are sister, so we grew up super close. So I am very excited to see her. That and Mike hopefully will get next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off for 4th of July. I love it when he is home!

Thrift Store

I found this twin sheet during my thrift shopping this past Saturday. They had the bottom sheet too but as I don't have a twin bed in my house I just bought the flat sheet. I'm still feeling a bit guilty for splitting them up..lol..I think that if they would have had the pillow cases I wouldn't have been so quick to just grab the flat sheet. I so wish it would have been a bigger set...Oh well, now I just need to figure out what to do with the material...

Sorry for the lack of knitting/crochet progress. I've only got four more rows and then finish tucking in the ends on the ripple baby blanket then I'm done. I'll post pics then:)

Ankle socks FO

These were knitted so quick that I didn't even post about them. The yarn was from my monkey socks yarn(400 something yards goes a long way), size 2 needles, 52co, 4 row picot edge anklet. They were a birthday present to my sister Deborah who just turned 9. She was really excited to have matching socks. She immediately put them on with her crocs and when we left she was still wearing them.. They were fun to knit once I went and bought a second set of 2s. Why they sell them is sets of 4? I need 5!
